KickStarter.com - What You Need To Know
I thought I would share my (quick) story about my experience with Kickstarter. Although I believe in Kickstarter.com and it's principles, the actual working model is somewhat different in real-time.
Back in 2012 I got involved with 5 projects;
Bringrr™ - Helping You Keep Track of What Matters Most
Glyph: A Mobile Personal Theater With Built In Premium Audio
Aurosoics - AURISONICS // ROCKETS: Next gen IEMs Made in USA
My N3RD: Connect and Control Anything from Anywhere
MiniMe - meMINI, a wearable camera with the gift of hindsight
Bringrr™ - The primary 2 reasons I am writing this is because some where along the line I thought I would have a vested interest or investment beyond getting a bunch of faulty first-gen , just past prototype versions of great products. the second reason is that I also thought (assumed) that the delivery dates were fairly reasonable. They weren't.
What you get is a lot of time to ponder the fact Binary Options might have been the better option while you patiently wait for the next email explaining the 2 month delay, as well as the extra month it took to run this letter of empathy through a focus group before posting it on Kickstarter
Most of the correspondence was sufficient, others outright ignored emails. Like Bringrr for instance. Brilliant idea...4 years ago before the management screwed someone and so forth and so on and they brought in new management to make a huge difference, they hoped, yadda, yadda, yadda.
I bought the damn thing because of the 11 lost iphones, 2 wallets, 2 ipads, a laptop, a few sets of keys and everything else I have lost. Maybe you could have stuck one on the money I contributed?
Aldo Beqiraj - sent me an email stating he was leaving and
"
My biggest regret is that I was not able to personally see this through to the end. I trust that new management will still fulfill your orders."
Well they didn't. And why does it matter because Trackr came out with one cheaper and better about 2 years ago.
Glyph - I didn't invest heavily, I just wanted a link for a client to be honest, which is now gone. I would be really upset though had I because this won Best of Show at CES 2016. To bad any money sent was for the final version that's not what backers received.
Remember - You are a 'Backer'...not and "Investor'
Aurosoics - I am a drummer so these sounded killer. It took a couple years to get them, and a part fell off in the first 2 days (rubber ear 'wings') and this was the part the maker didn't send extra parts for, and that were unique as far as I could see. Couldn't even order extra on their website. Unfortunately while I waited I bought a pair of Shure drummer earpieces and they ere cheaper, took 2 weeks and not 2 years, and they blow these away.
My N3RD - Connect and Control Anything from Anywhere eh? This is what I thought it was;
This is what they showed
This is what came in the box
I am sure it's a brilliant piece of engineering, but an Engineer - I am not. The only thing this ever controlled for the last 2 years since I got it was the 8 books I read, but they outperformed the other 4 dealy-do's I backed in terms of delivery and I got in in just over a year...or so. Problem is, they didn't finish it in order to deliver it 4 months past their delivery date.
MiniMe - So we are down to the last candidate for redemption...MiniMe was a wearable dual camera. We were going on a 2-month road trip on a motorbike the following year so I thought it would be cool to record as we were hitting the top 20 W.European rides through Austria, Switzerland, etc.
Wondering the result of this Jan 2014 investment?
We’re super grateful for your support, We will send you your own meMINI as soon as it comes off the production line in your choice of colour. What’s not to love?
Ships anywhere in the world
Estimated delivery:
I'll have to let you know as they finally got it to me here in Malta March 7, 2016. The postman on his little moped delivered a letter saying I had to pick it up for customs inspection...another $40
Wonder how much I can get away with saying it's worth...or if they will let me get back to them and tell them what it's worth since I bought a Sony HDR-AZ1 which looks even smaller and is 12MP, has a remote wrist watch with video, and I bought it over a year ago.
So final word is - Invest in Binary Options, Online Dating or Slots & Poker. You won't get so bored waiting for a result and at least poker players lie to your face.
